Watch This Space: ChangingRoom Agency v-Next

ChangingRoom AgencyProduct RoadmapBehind the Scenes

Spent today thinking about ChangingRoom Agency from the other side of the screen — not what I can easily build, but what a customer would actually want. That shift in perspective landed on two major features that I think will make the app genuinely invaluable, and world's apart from anything the competition is doing.

The first one I'm not going to talk about yet. It's a fundamental change to how poses work — not just adding more preset positions, but rethinking the whole interaction model so the user has real control over how their models appear. It's big enough that I want to get it right before sharing details. Watch this space.

The second one I can talk about: user-uploaded backgrounds with selectable lighting maps. Right now, ChangingRoom Agency ships with a fixed set of backgrounds — street, park, indoor, holiday — all pre-lit and locked. The next release lets agencies upload their own background images and then choose from a set of lighting presets that get applied on top: Street (off-white subdued), Park (natural dappled), Inside (harsh LED), and Holiday (bright natural). The names are deliberately intuitive rather than technical, so a fashion buyer can pick a mood without needing to know what a Kelvin temperature is.

The point of this is brand-matching. An agency shooting a winter collection doesn't want a generic park — they want their own studio backdrop with the right lighting mood layered over it. A boutique shooting product shots for Instagram wants to match their shop's actual lighting. The combination of custom backgrounds plus selectable lighting maps means the output isn't just "good enough for a demo" — it's usable as final delivery content. That's the gap no other 3D fashion app is filling right now.

Both features are in active development. Not feature-creep — these are the two things I kept coming back to when I asked myself "what would make a customer choose ChangingRoom Agency over everything else on the market?" The answer wasn't more colours or more positions. It was control and customization.
