Saturday, and technically a day off. Took the family out to Saffron Walden for the afternoon — one of those pretty little market towns that always feels like a good decision the moment you park up. Cobbled courtyards, red-brick tea rooms, pink parasols outside every café, and just enough sunshine to make sitting outside the obvious choice.
We found a spot in one of the courtyard cafes, ordered coffee, and I fully intended to just switch off for an hour. That lasted about fifteen minutes. Someone flagged that the new Blog Spot section on the site had a formatting issue — entries in the mobile modal were overlapping each other, text bleeding into the card above and below. Not exactly a five-alarm fire, but the kind of thing that bugs me if I know about it and leave it broken.
So there I was, coffee in one hand, phone in the other, tracing the bug back to a 3D tilt effect on the blog cards that looked great in a spaced-out grid but fell apart once the same cards were stacked tightly in a scrolling list. Stripped out the tilt, solidified the card background, gave everything a bit more breathing room between entries. Fixed, tested, deployed — all before the coffee went cold.
It is a strange kind of busy, this. Not stressful, not urgent, just the low hum of always half-thinking about the site even on a family day out. I do not mind it though. There is something satisfying about squashing a bug from a courtyard table in the sun with your family a few feet away, drinks in hand, nobody any the wiser. Still a busy day, even on a day off.
