Today was SEO day with a twist. Instead of tuning pages for Google alone, I have been building directly for the AI crawlers too: GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot, ClaudeBot, Google-Extended, Meta's agents, Applebot and the rest. The people asking "what does this product do?" are increasingly not people at all, and the site should answer them just as clearly as it answers a human.
The big job was giving ChangingRoom Agency its own home. The Agency has been live and busy for a week, but to a search engine it lived inside the PMD Services homepage, sharing space with the consumer ChangingRoom try-on app. Ask an AI "what exactly is ChangingRoom Agency?" and the honest answer was: a bit fuzzy. There is now a dedicated pillar page at pmdservices.uk/changingroom-agency. It answers what the Agency is, who it is for, what is included, how it works, the pricing table, a comparison against traditional studio photography, the video hub and a proper FAQ. Structured data carries the same story: SoftwareApplication schema, an AggregateOffer with all four credit packs, and FAQPage schema with answers written as clean, quotable sentences.
Alongside the new page, a round of tweaking. The homepage title now leads with the Agency rather than the consumer app. The "first 3D fashion app" wording has been retired in favour of a plain description: a 3D fashion photography platform built specifically for business. A claim you can verify always beats a superlative, and it gives search engines better semantic information. Stale facts got fixed too: 200 models, not 100, and "now shipping" rather than "launching 1 October". A quiet bug also fell: the /products pages were returning 404 to crawlers because their clean-URL rewrites were missing. Fixed, verified 200 OK, and resubmitted.
The AI-facing plumbing got the most attention. robots.txt now explicitly allows every major AI crawler, including the newcomers that power ChatGPT search. llms.txt was rebuilt so each product states its capabilities, pricing, target audience and installed languages in plain sentences an AI can lift and quote. Everything pinged through IndexNow so the fresh URLs get picked up fast.
The lesson from a day of this work: an AI crawler reads like a busy stranger with no patience for ambiguity. Give it clean URLs, plain honest sentences, structured data and current facts, and it will describe your product correctly to everyone who asks. That is the new SEO.
